The New Indian Head Center for the Arts is Coming Soon!
Indian Head’s Black Box Theatre is embarking on an exciting effort to revitalize and re-envision its current space and offerings. The new Indian Head Center for the Arts (IHCA) will serve as a multi-purpose space where residents of all ages can take instruction in the arts, view quality theatrical performances and come together as a cultural community.
The ongoing renovations at the theatre, which were made possible in part by a grant from the State of Maryland, seek to increase the building’s space by almost 50 percent and will add classrooms, studios and multiple-purpose areas. These new spaces will be used for workshops and rehearsals as well as being available for rent by local artists.
Future plans for the space include open mic nights and arts workshops for teenagers; introductory and intermediate arts classes for younger children; and adult classes and workshops in a variety of art disciplines. The theatre will continue to produce a seasonal calendar of plays and other performances, as well as host the popular summer theatre camp.
